Here I show you the process of creation of ‘Bitter Sweetness’. In the process of creating this work I felt like time and space became one. Enjoy 🙂

‘Bitter Sweetness’ Materials
This work is made of coloured pencils and archival paper. I chose coloured pencils because it’s a way for me to introduce myself to colour, without going too further away from charcoal, which I’m more comfortable with.
‘Bitter Sweetness’ Process

I picked up a sketchbook in the middle of the night and I started drawing with colored pencils. I picked blue to represent masculinity, pink to represent femininity and gold to represent humanity. First I draw one triangle to represent the head, then I did the same for the other heads, I drew the heads in different positions, then I just drew the bodies overlapping one another. Next, I locked the bodies in shapes, textures and colors, almost like a tetris game. To do this work I had to go through the pain that it is to enter the dating market for the first time. Without it, I wouldn’t be able to flourish in work, in all aspects. In the process of creating this work I felt like time and space became one. I found inspiration in life’s struggles.
Final Thoughts

The viewer is looking at a man, a woman and between them a child. It represents the complexity of human nature. The irritation and ill humour of the African man. And if you pay a closer look you’ll see that both heads are connected by a gold line. This line represents the possibly of finding your way back to wholeness. Even if the world makes you strip away far away from it. With this work I learned to have a thick skin with an open heart. I’d like the viewer to approach the work with their own eyes and their own bias. I’m immersing the viewer in a travel through human psychosis.
